|
An 18-year-old man has been charged after a woman was raped in Lowestoft.
It happened at approximately 0:10 am Sunday 5 April. A woman in her 20s and her friend got into a taxi at the Blues public house when an unknown man also entered the car. On arriving at The Volunteer public house on London Road North, the woman and the man both got out of the taxi and walked towards Milton Road East.
It’s reported that the man then led the woman into an alleyway near to the junction of Arnold Street where he sexually assaulted her, before running down London Road North, and turning into Gordon Road.
Approximately 12 hours later, police arrested an 18-year-old man from Lowestoft in connection with the incident and he was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Harvey Flory, of Shaw Avenue in Lowestoft, has subsequently been charged with two counts of rape, and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
He has been remanded in custody to appear before Norwich Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 7 April.
The victim continues to be assisted by specialist officers.
