Two people sentenced for drugs offences

A man has been jailed and a woman handed a suspended sentence after they were convicted of drugs offences in Bramford.

Ellis Whitehead, aged 25, and Elise Wells-Ramm, aged 28, both appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday 27 August. Whitehead was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment; and Wells-Ram was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.

Whitehead - of Buzzard Lane, Bramford – had previously pleaded guilty to the following four offences: being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug (cocaine); being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug (cannabis); and two counts of possession of criminal property (a large quantity of cash).  

Wells-Ram – of Drumlin Drive, Creeting St Mary – had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of permitting a premises to be used for the supply of drugs (one count in respect of cocaine and one in respect of cannabis).

On 24 January 2025 police officers responding to concerns of anti-social behaviour linked to suspected drug-dealing, attended an address in Buzzard Lane, Bramford, and subsequently arrested both Whitehead and Wells-Ram on suspicion of drugs offences. The pair were interviewed and released on bail while the investigation continued.

As a result of continued concerns raised with the police, officers attended the address again on 3 October 2025 when they executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act. On this occasion, 22 grams of cocaine were seized along with £1,000.

Evidence of supplying cannabis was uncovered as a result of phone analysis work.   

Whitehead was re-arrested and subsequently charged the following day, with Wells-Ram being charged and issued a summons to court on 22 December.

Financial enquiries identified over £300,000 passing through their bank accounts between February 2022 and October 2025. As a result of this, both defendants will be subject of Proceeds of Crime Act proceedings later this year.

PC Alan Besley of the South Kestrel Team, who investigated the offences, said: “Suffolk Police will not tolerate people blighting communities by dealing drugs and the associated criminality and anti-social behaviour that often comes with it.

“We will act on intelligence provided to us and respond to concerns raised by members of the public to disrupt this activity and bring those responsible to justice.”
